In today’s episode, I have the privilege of interviewing my best friend and real estate mentor, Gaston Albergotti. Gaston has been my best friend since second grade, and while I’ve taught him most everything he knows (especially about sports :)), he has the upper hand when it comes to real estate and actually helped me land my first deal back in 2018.
Gaston came out of college in 2013 and went straight into real estate as an agent. He started with aspirations to excel as realtor in the commercial real estate space, but soon shifted his focus to what we call down south as “bird dogging”. Gaston joined a brokerage team in Greenville, SC under Jake Van Geison where is was the bird dog, also known as the guy who’s sole job was to go out and find properties that they could either buy, or present to their list of buyers to purchase. Gaston has tried every strategy in the book to generate leads and get people to sell him their home for a good deal, has been extremely successful at it, and shares his secrets on this episode.
While Gaston and his team handed over many of the properties he farmed to folks on their buyers list (like myself), he also made sure to keep some in his own portfolio. Imagine starting to add real estate to your name at age 24, and then think about what that would do for you financially by 30- that’s what Gaston did.
What started as a three man brokerage in 2013 with Gaston, Jake, and another partner has since scaled to over 20 team members. They raise millions of dollars per year from private investors, own a property management company, and are still the most savvy, successful, and trustworthy real estate investors I personally know to date.
Enjoy this conversation between two best friends who changed their lives through Real Estate!
